Adaptable, but is extremely intolerant of poorly drained areas. Full sun to shade.
- Notes:
Interesting "winged" twigs. The fall color is a consistent brilliant pink-red. Makes an excellent clipped hedge and should be used more in this manner.

- Pruning:
Heading back is done to shape and reduce the size of the plant. Cut prominent shoots back inside the body of the plant to where they meet another branch.
Heading back may be done from late fall to mid-July.
